Hong Leong Trading Co. Sdn. Bhd. (HLT) was founded by the late Mr. Yap Hui Hong in 1952. From its humble beginnings, the company began its operations as a pioneer in the timber industry, retailing sawn timber in the local market.

By 1966, the company’s started producing sawn timber for export. With time, new market trends were emerging and by 1992, in order to remain competitive, HLT began to change its focus towards specialising in General Moulding of solid timber products and the development of “Finger-joints” for the export market.

Currently, HLT’s manufacturing plant is located on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur on 13 acres of land which houses a Moulding, Finger-joint, Kiln-drying and Preservation plant with more than 50 employees. In order to maintain the tradition of producing only high-quality goods for our clientele, stringent checks are performed at every level. In addition, only a restricted number of orders are accepted each year, so as to ensure the best use of raw materials which are sourced mainly from within Malaysia.

Our expertise in the fabrication of tropical (hardwood) timber products lies not only in the knowledge and experience that have been acquired over the last five decades but also in our technical expertise in handling German machinery. This has given us the upper hand in producing an extensive range of quality products, some of which are door/window frames, skirting, wall paneling, parquet flooring and decking.

Over the years, HLT has been one of the leading players within Malaysia’s Small Medium Industries (SMI), engaging in past business dealings with overseas markets such as Australia, Korea, Japan, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. Today, we remain active business with our partners in Belgium, Holland, USA and Canada.
